Character Sketch

Character Sketch: take any of the sonnets and get an image from (online, magazine, personal pictures etc. please cite your sources i.e. url, name of magazine etc.) that you think represents one of a character in one of the poems and write a paragraph on why this image captures the character in your selected poem.

Megan Fox is not the woman Shakespeare describes in "Sonnet 130" but the woman he compares her to. Throughout the sonnet he judges his mistress and picks out on all her flaws and compares her to what is perfect during that era. In today’s world, Megan Fox is the poster girl for perfection. She has charm, talent, the looks, the body, and everything else a woman would want to be. If Shakespeare’s sonnet was written today, his mistress would be compared to the likes of Megan Fox. Her image is everything Shakespeare describes: red lips, snow white skin, etc... However, at the end of the sonnet he realizes he doesn’t need her to be perfect in order to love her. And as many women daydream about being like Megan Fox, they must settle with the way they are, just like Shakespeare did.
